Hon. Francis Mwijukye’s health has taken a turn for the worse following a brutal machete attack. Scans conducted at Nakasero Hospital reveal bruises on the brain accompanied by severe headaches and worsening pain. As a result, he has been referred to Nairobi – Kenya for further management and treatment.
The attack on Hon. Mwijukye, a prominent FDC MP and vocal critic of land grabbing, occurred during Sunday prayers at Rwanyamabaare Catholic Church. The assailants believed to be linked to Edwin Burimbare’s land grabbing attempts, dispersed the congregation and injured seven people, including journalist Kyarisiima from Vision Group’s TV West. Kyarisiima was severely beaten, and his equipment destroyed.
Hon. Mwijukye, known for his fearless defense of the people, was admitted to Devine Mercy hospital in Mbarara for treatment but was later transferred to Nakasero Hospital after his condition deteriorated. Doctors say that the MP’s health has not improved prompting a referral to Nairobi for specialized care.
The community remains in shock and outrage over this heinous attack on a respected leader and innocent worshippers.
