KAMULI: Teacher held over alleged defilement of P7 pupil

At least 11 students of Mbarara High alias Chappa in Mbarara city are nursing wounds following a fight between Senior Six and Senior Four candidate classes last night.

The fight ensued after S.4 candidates accused candidates in S.6 of assaulting one of their classmates. The students turned unruly and attacked members of the community.

According to residents, the rowdy students blocked the road from Bushenyi to Mbarara and started looting merchandises from shops

Samson Asasiira, the deputy spokesperson for Rwizi region police says that the fight started at around last night at 2030hrs.

According to him, eleven students of S.4 were injured in the fight, and are currently on admission at different hospitals

“11 students of S.4 sustained injuries during the fight and 10 of them have been admitted at Ruharo hospital and 01 student at homily hospital all in Mbarara City for treatment,” said Kasasira

He said that residents became concerned and called police to intervene in which dispersed the them back to school.

“Our anti riot police responded to the scene dispersing the students driving them back into the school premises where they were contained.” He added

Parrots UG has learned that the school administration has suspended all the S.6 and S.4 students for two weeks effective today.

By press time, no reports of school property destructions have been issued. Our attempts to speak to the school’s Headteacher remained futile.
