St. Peters Buyanja Parish celebrated a significant milestone as 38 individuals received the Sacrament of Baptism during a special mass dedicated to St. Stephen’s Day.
The ceremony was presided over by Rev. Father Benjamin Tukamushaba, who delivered an inspiring sermon emphasizing the importance of using saint names, as they intercede for us in difficult times.
Father Tukamushaba reminded the congregation that the blessings and successes in their lives are often due to the intervention of their patron saints. He discouraged the use of names like “Success” and “Miracle,” urging parents to choose traditional saint names that reflect their faith. “It’s high time we became proud of our religion,” he stated.
The event was also marked by an address from Neema Jane, Vice Chairperson of the Parish Council, who welcomed the parishioners and the newly baptized members. She expressed gratitude to the parents for baptizing their children at a young age and highlighted the parish’s growth since its elevation to parish status.
However, she pointed out the urgent need for more public toilets due to the increasing number of parishioners. Neema Jane encouraged the congregation to contribute generously towards the construction of modern toilet facilities to accommodate the growing community.
