Kabale
In a recent joint operation conducted by the police and UPDF in Kabale, a total of 48 individuals have been arrested. The operation took place on Saturday night, 16th December 2023, resulting in the arrest of 11 individuals. The following night, Sunday 17th December 2023, an additional 37 individuals were apprehended, including three women and also seventeen motorcycles were impounded during the operations.
Among the detainees that were arrested , Some were found in possession of opium, while others were carrying breaking implements and suspected stolen property for which they could not provide a valid account. The motorcyclists, on the other hand, were caught with folded number plates, driving without a license, and without insurance, among other infractions.
Among the individuals currently in custody are Geoffrey Twinamatsiko, Francis Barisigara, Hillary Nuwagaba, Joshua Kahigi, Oscar Akamputira, Paul Sabiti, and Adolf Ainembabazi and many others.
These security operations are part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security during the festive season. The authorities are determined to target individuals with ill intentions and suspicious conduct to ensure a peaceful celebration for everyone. Those arrested will be thoroughly screened, with the assistance of local area chairpersons, and any individuals found to be involved in criminal activities will be taken to court.
ASP Maate Elly, the PRO Kigezi, has confirmed that these operations will continue in order to safeguard the community from any potential threats. The police and UPDF are committed to maintaining law and order and will remain vigilant in their efforts to protect the public.
