The Ma’di Debate Society, an initiative of former high school and University debators hailing from ma’di sub-region made up of Moyo, Adjumani and Obongi districts in the westnile region of Uganda was established with the sole purpose of contributing towards community transformation through social research, leadership trainings, public lectures, symposiums and debates. reads the society’s profile document.
According to Amoko Ronald Andevuku, one of the society’s cordinator, the platform is created to absorb the use of creatively resourceful young members of the society to impact morals, Sharpen thinking ability and spark innovative ideas for meaningful and sustainable living.
In point of departure, Ronald and his cofederetes, Anzo James, a human rights student and Unzima John, a vision group Journalist had the society registered both at town Council and District level.

In ascension, the society established a public library located at Adjumani Multipurpose training centre and at it’s inception stages, the library received donations from well wishers who volunteered to support its growth.

Book Aid International, a charity organisation based in the UK donated 500copies of books, friends such as Fr.Andrew Inyaga, a Roman Catholic priest of Arua diocese and parish priest of kureku Catholic parish, Prof. Christine Dranzoa, the vice chancellor of Muni University, Prof. Rev, Sr.Dominica Dipio, a professor of literature and film at Makerere University all donated different books to the library: Fr. Grace Waigo, the director of Adjumani Multipurpose training centre, voluntarily offered to accodomate the library premises at the centre: community leaders, colleague students, young members of the society and well wishers all played a samaritans role in the library development.

According to Ronald, the debate society conducts training on its own and on request by interested partners in both primary and secondary schools in the sub region to both pupils, students and teachers to ensure sustainability of culture of debate in the sub-region.

The debate society also engages different informed and knowledgeable people of sound mind hailing from the sub-region and beyond, in public lectures, symposiums and dialogues on different topics to educate, inform and empower communities.

The debate society also conducts research on social issues affecting the sub-region and developing reports for appropriate offices in order to influence local policies and address the challenge or developing a new idea for the transformation of the sub-region.
Citing the MDS profile document, the society is visioned to a critically innovative open society and missioned to contribute towards community transformation through research, leadership trainings, public lectures and debates.
Apprehended to that, Ronald said that the debate society is carrying on a fund raise both digitally on the society’s social media platforms and as well as community reach outs through radio talkshows in appeal for support of its activities to help the community, he emphasised the that Ma’di Debate Society is a non profit organisation, but rather a community intended one.
