OBITUARY:
There are mixed reactions at the ministry of local government and in the public dominion following the sudden death of the ministry’s secretary.
Lawrence Banyoya, a senior official in the Ministry of Local Government on Wednesday afternoon collapsed in his office and he was announced dead moments later.
After the collapse, he was rushed to Nakasero hospital, wgere doctors declared him dead at 3:00 pm.
Banyoya, the secretary of the LG commission has not had any illnesses according to inside reports. He on Tuesday held several meetings in Kampala during which together with the LG State Minister, Victoria Rusoke and other commission members, met Public Service and LG Committee of parliament.
This has raised many questions among the public with many attributing his sudden death to alleged poisoning.
Several reports indicates that many public servants in various government ministries and agencies nowadays no longer take meals served at workplaces and public functions for fear of being poisoned.
This follows many incidents where some government officials and prominent figures have mysteriously died due to poisoning.
However, an insider at the ministry denied the allegations noting that Banyoya has been the most darling in the ministry and that no any cause could lead to such an allegation.
The cause of his death hadn’t been released by press time but some say he died a natural death.
The bereaved were yet to announce details of his funeral soon.
