Illegal roadblocks have returned on the Ugandan roads and drivers and road users are the targeted groups by the culprits.
The culprits who are oftenly armed with guns, and other deadly weapons put road barricades to stop drivers who confuse them to traffic roadblocks meant to promote safety and security on the road. These then put passangers at gunpoints, kill, kidnap passengers and or steal their properties.

Latest reports indicate how the robbers used similar illegal roadblock to rob passengers aboard link Bus in Mityana District on Friday.
The aggravated robbery incident according to Racheal Kawala, the Wamala region police spokesperson occured on Friday morning at around 1900am when unknown gunmen attacked link bus and robbed them of their belongings.
The bus reg no UBG 423 G left Bundibugyo town heading to Kampala with 65 passengers on board.
ASP Kawala said the robbers put a roadblock at Bamujugu swamp on a border between Mityana and Kassanda districts.
The bus driver was prompted to stop at the road at Bamujugu swamp, and when he stopped, about ten people armed with two guns, sticks and hammers intercepted them and ordered the passengers to move out of the bus and lie down on the road along Mityana_ Kampala highway.
The passengers were robbed of unspecified amounts of money, and phones among other belongings, while those that resisted were beaten.
Kawala says the robbers then ordered the passengers to board back the bus.
“We were informed and rushed to the scene of the crime. However, the suspects had fled the scene. Efforts are underway to have guns recovered and the suspects arrested and brought to book,” says Kawala.
She expressed police commitment to protect Ugandans and ensuring their safety.
Kawala also urged anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact police on 0714667834 or report to any nearby police
