Christians in Bugonya CoU , Kayonza subcounty , Kayunga district have resorted to praying and fasting for cleansing their church after a couple was caught red-handed playing sex on the altar.
The incident happened on Tuesday July 5, at around 8pm. They were caught caught by the man’s wife who raised an alarm that attracted locals who arrested them half naked.
The Bugonya LC1 chairman, George William Kanda said the culprits are not members of the church of Uganda but, a 23-year-old Catholic married man and a female Muslim, both residents of Bugonya.
The duo accessed the church through a window of the church building.
A fabric head cover belonging to a woman and a man’s T-shirt were recovered and are being kept at the LC office.
Kanda added that the suspects were set free but a local council court will soon convene to decide on the matter.
However, Christians have vowed not to again conduct prayers in the same church until the fasting is done and a special function is conducted to cleanse the church.
The lay reader Bugonya CoU, Aaron Komugisha said they’re organizing a prayer service in Which all the clergy from the district will gather to pray for the church.
It has since been reported that the man fled the village early this morning but the LC1 chairman says he will answer his charges when he returns to the village.
