The Directorate of Traffic and Road safety has patterned with Other government agencies like Uganda National Roads Authority and Ministry of Health to launch a campaign dubbed Fika Salama Extra against reckless drivers on Entebbe Expressway.

This was revealed by the SP. Micheal Kananura, the PRO Directorate of Traffic Police and Road Safety during an engagement with journalists in Naguru Kampala on Monday.

“Emphasis will be put on operations and sensitization across the country targeting those that drive recklessly especially speeding and reckless overtaking” Kananura said

He also added that operations will start on 22-08-2023 on the Kampala Expressway.

“The maximum speed limit is 100km/hr and this will be rolled out to other major highways across the country” Kananura explained.

He advised motorists on different roads to observe speed limits and should avoid drink driving as it may attract arrest from traffic officers

“All pedestrians must walk on the right to observe the oncoming traffic during this period “ kananura added

Kananura alerted all lorry drivers not to carry passengers to avoid accidents on feeder roads and said that lorries should carry only goods while taxis only carry passengers.
