FDC district executives from 113 districts have petitioned the party president, Hon. Patrick Oboi Amuriat seeking for a probe into the alleged misconduct and dishonesty by their national chairman Amb. Wasswa Birigwa.
In a petition read by the new Masaka city FDC Chairperson, Joseph Senzoga, the chairpersons accuse party chairman of vetoing the resolutions of the National Council on party structure elections, failure to implement decisions of Special Elders’ Committee Report and failure to attend meetings with the working committee of the party.
They demand that the party takes disciplinary actions against Birigwa. He is accused along with Western Uganda FDC vice chairperson, Hon. Roland Mugume Kaginda and Hon. Salaamu Musumba, vice chairperson for Eastern region.
In addition, the petitioners demand that the president exercises his powers within Article 28(3) (b)(iii) to take actions against Birigwa and his co-accused vice chairperson.
“They president may recommend disciplinary actions against any number who fails in his duties and absconds from party business and meeting without any reasonable excuse. In case of such recommendation the president may appoint anyone to act in such capacity pending approval of the relevant body,” read the petition in parts.
Ambassador Birigwa has been given an ultimatum of 48hrs to call off his Extra Ordinary Delegates Conference slated for 19th September, 2023 at Nature Green Resort Busabala.
“We call upon the party Chairperson to stop his illegal action (meeting) by issuing a notice to cancel the so called extra ordinary delegates meeting within 48hrs,” chairpersons demanded.
The petition was received by the FDC Chief Administrative Officer, Polline Nanyanzi at FDC headquarters meeting hall.
