A senior four candidate in Kibaale district who gave birth to a bouncing baby boy before sitting for her Physics practical paper on Tuesday has named her child after UNEB Executive Director, Daniel Odongo.
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Uneb principal communications officer the candidate delivered a healthy baby boy about one hour before her examination.
“The candidates delivered at 8am in the morning and shortly after, went to schools to write her next paper, scheduled for 9am,” Kalule said
In related stories , another candidate from Gulu district also gave birth through a Caesarean section on Monday night and was able to write her Chemistry Practical paper on Tuesday.
Dan Odongo, the UNEB ED told journalists that three candidates have so far given birth since UCE exams began last week.
“One candidate in a school in Kampala gave birth to a baby girl last Thursday and subsequently continued with her exams,” he said.
The young mothers whose identities remain confidential managed to sit for their papers.
“According to the manual on the conduct of examinations, all these candidates qualify for an extra 45 minutes offered to special needs candidates .In case of these mothers, they are expected to take off time in the middle of the examination to breastfeed their babies,”Ms Kalule said.
