President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has asked politicians to desist from parochial politics of tribe and identity if they are to improve on the livelihoods of the people they serve.
“Avoid pitics of tribe and identity because our people are now waking up, it explains why we have bumper production of food, sugar, milk, bananas etc. Do not talk about your tribe or religion but talk about prosperity and wealth creation,” he warned.
‘Don’t talk about identity, talk about interests on how these people will survive.’ Museveni.
The president said these on Wednesday at State House Entebbe while meeting NRM MPs who have for several times defied certain party positions such as the amendment of the constitutional Article 102b which aimed at removing of the presidential lower and upper age limit caps in 2017.
These were termed as “Rebel MPs” and have always been subjected to discriminations in party events thus seeking for pardon in Wednesday’s meeting.

NRM party chairman (Museveni) welcomed the members back into the party saying he would table their request for forgiveness before the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC).
Yesterday, the CEC meeting pardoned them but further resolved that for the party’s cohesion and discipline, the party leadership should interacts further and guide these MPs.
Museveni told the MPs to promote the sense of unity in order to pre occupy with the future and survival of the African race.
“The issue we are dealing with is not terms limits or age limits but survival of the African race. That is critical especially when we do not have a strong black nation like the US, Russia, India, China as our anchors,” he added
