Tragedy has again fallen on Mbarara Archdiocese after a second priest died a day after the burial of the church’s episcopal vicar, Rev. Fr. Pascal Betunga aka Fr. Rukooko.
This time, the hand of the death struck Rev. Fr. Elneus Kalenzi, priest at St .Kagwa parish in Bushenyi district.
The priest’s death has according to a close family member occured in the ewe morning of today 28th November, 2020, at Mbarara regional referral hospital.
The cause of the death had by publication time not been known, however, Alex Bagyenzire , the PRO Catholic church in Uganda told reports that a postmortem was to be carriedout before any funeral arrangements were announced.
Born in Kiyaga Parish, Bumbaire subcounty Igara, Bushenyi district, Fr. Karenzi has been reknown for his tutoring rôle in Primary Teachers Colleges for a long time.
According to the available profile, he tutored at Buhungira PTC and Bushenyi Core PTC, in Isingiro and Bushenyi districts respectively.
“Omukuru taffa yekka!” the Buganda saying, Fr. Karenzi’s death is a blow in the hearts of the diocesan laity and faithful particularly, those hailing from Bushenyi vicariate few days after they lost their Episcopal vicar, Rev. Fr. Pascal Betunga.
Fr.Betunga died on November 25, and was given a sendoff yesterday November 28, at Nyamitanga cathedral Mbarara.
