Africa’s oldest independent state, Ethiopia is set to embark on testing its citizens for corona virus in a door to door campaign as one of the means of mitigating its rapid spread.
Country’s healthy ministry say an estimated number of at least 4,000 persons is expected to be tested on a daily basis.
The campaign follow an escalation numbers on COVID-19 cases confirmed in the country.
Lia Tadesse, the Minister of Health confirmed one positive new case rising COVID-19 positive total number to 123 cases.
The new case is a 30yrs-old Male Ethiopian national who traveled from Puntland in Northern Somalia and is under mandatory quarantine.
“Only one person confirmed positive amongst 975 laboratory tests conducted. Most of the samples ate tested from people in mandatory quarantine and contacts of confirmed cases,” Minister Tadesse confirmed.
Meanwhile, 12 persons recovered today from the country’s capital Addis Ababa bringing the number of recoveries to 41 with only 3 death fatalities.
