A total of five clinics at Masaka clinic have been closed to due to upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases, reports says.
“In view of the current COVID-19 pandemic, hospital management has decided to close the undermentioned clinics as measures of stopping or reducing the spread of COVID-19 among staff,” management said.
According to an internal memo to all staff bearing the principal hospital administration stamp, management has closed five clinics which includes; ENT / eyes, Diabetic and Hypertension clinics, Surgical OPD, Paediatric OPD and MCH.
Management further directed all staff employed under the closed clinics to seek redeployment from the SPANISH.
“The staff from all the closed clinics must see SPANO for redeployment,” read excerpts of the memo.
Masaka hospital will only be receiving referrals and critically ill patients in the hospital.

According to a notice by the hospital management addressed to all patients, an individual patient will be required to pay an amount of UShs 1,050,000 (One million and fifty thousand shillings) per day when admitted at the hospital.
Furthermore, the hospital has set an initial charge of UShs 2m for each patient paid upon admission.
“An initial deposit of 2,000,000 Ugx (Two million shillings) is a MUST,” read a notice.
