Dr Dalton Ssegawa, the director Merryland Schools has dismissed as falsehoods news circulating on social media alleging the same of his founded Merryland schools.
On Thursday, parents stormed Merryland High School Katabi Entebbe campus in Wakiso district after speculations on social media alleging the same of the schools due to COVID-19 pandemic.
When contacted for a comment, Dr Dalton Ssegawa, the school’s director refuted to reports stating that the schools are still operating and has no any plans to sell off the schools.
According to a statement on the school’s Facebook page, the school administration dismissed reports and said students are attending their classes via online platforms.
“We hereby inform the general public that the news published earlier today by Mulengera News, an Online News Publisher about Merryland High School being on sale is fake,” the school posted.
“All stakeholders of Merryland are committed to provide holistic education to students. We need to inform the general public that Merryland High School students are currently studying online.”
The reports come at a time when over 1,000 schools across the country have been closed and many others taken and auctioned by banks and money lenders due to accumulating loan debts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
