The Archdiocese of Mbarara has on Sunday received eight new priest and eleven deacons during the priestly and deaconate ordination.
The ordination mass was celebrated at Nyamitanga cathedral at Nyamitanga hill, Mbarara city.
The ordained priests are; Fr Peter Arinaitwe, Fr Nicholas Asingwire, Fr Frank Tumwesigye, Fr Benjamin Wise, Fr Genensio Niwagira and Fr Allan Gumisiriza; two other priests; Fr Agric Paul Gumanoshaba, Fr Didas Buarugaba, were missionary priests from Fransiscan Missionarirs.
Seminerian Leonidas Muhereza, Julius Muhwezi, Julius Ceaser Kamukama and eight others were ordained deacons.
The Mbarara Archdiocese Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha graced the ordination ceremony.
He expressed gratitudes to the ordinands for choosing to live a priestly life even when there were many other options they would choose in their lives.
“You have chosen to live this priestly life yet you had other options to chose from. You make us proud seeing you joining this vocation,” Archbishop Bainomugisha said.
He implored the ordinands to always remember that they are called to serve God’s children but not to be served.
The ordination ceremony was attendend by few invited congregation inorder to adhere to COVID-19 SOPs.
Other christians were urged to follow the scientific ordination on the archdeocesan media and online platforms such as Radio Maria Uganda, facebook page and on other media platforms like UCTV, Eyit TV among others.
