BUSHENYI:
There is a growing state of fears in the South Western Uganda district of Bushenyi – the model district, after unknown persons have dropped leaflets threatening to attack the area few days from now.
According to reports from the model district, the leaflets which were dropped on Monday night read that the blood-thirsty machette wielding assailants want 27 heads from the area.
The leaflets written in several languages such as Luganda and English indicate that the assailants are already in the area having been overpowered in the Masaka region where they had recently camped terrorizing lives and leaving over 30 lives dead and scores of properties destroyed.
“Masaka batugobyeyo, Kati tuuze Bushenyi in one week. Wait for us. We just need 27 heads,” read the leaflets.
A source who talked to Parrots UG in deep fears seeking for prayer contributions for the area said the leaflets making rounds on social media were found in Nyabubare and Nyakabirizi, both in Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality.
“Mutusabire,” literally meaning; “Pray for us,” the source said before adding; ‘Nanye nakitomera omu grp emwe,’ – I have also read it on a certain WhatsApp group.
Residents and people travelling to Bushenyi have been warned against night movements for their life safety.
“If you’re around Bushenyi, or traveling to Bushenyi be extra careful in the evening hours , make sure you go back home early enough to save your life 🧬, the warning ⚠️ has reached Nyabubare , nyakabirizi. Masaka has ended now it’s Bushenyi”
Its a known behaviour by the machette wielding assailants to issue prior Threats Alerts – warning of credible attacks on people in areas of their attacks.
Similar warnings have been issued to people in the districts of Busia, Namayingo, Mityana among others. The Bijjambiya as commonly known have been terrorizing areas of Masaka, Kyotera, Lwengo and dozens of people have been murdered, others injured and properties such as houses have been destroyed.
Joint security have made arrests and some of the suspects have been arraigned to court, charged and convicted while investigations continue.
Authorities in the Bushenyi had by the time of compiling this report not made any official communication about the alleged leaflets.
