The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has unveiled Hon. Jimmy James Akena and Dennis Adim Enap as their duly nominated candidates for the Party’s presidential flag ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The announcement was made by the party Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson, Muhamood Kazimbiraine on Thursday. Hajji Kazimbiraine disclosed that three people showed interest for this position but only two fulfilled the necessary requirements.

The duo will be traversing the country to mobilize support from UPC delegates as the party prepares for a delegates conference to elect a suitable candidate to hold the party’s flag in 2026 presidential elections.

Speaking at the press conference, Kazimbiraine warned the candidates against mudslinging one another, and called for positive campaigns which will protect UPC’s democratic reputation.

He also advised them to use this opportunity to present the UPC program to the nation so that it outshines all other programs that are going to be presented by other competing parties.

UPC Presidential polls will be carried out in district conferences and the winner will be announced after attaining at least one third of all the party district conferences across the country as per the article 112(6) of the party constitution.

Speaking to journalists shortly after he was nominated, Akena vowed to present the best ideas that will restore UPC’s glory in national politics.
