A 40-year-old woman and a traditional healer in Kiboga district in in detention after she allegedly sacrificed a young girl in the area.
Oliver Namanda, 11, a pupil at Fairway Nursery and Primary School in Bwizibwera Kiboga district left home on the night of June 10 to hawk boiled maize, a business which has been her source of school fees and their household income.
She was reported missing at the nearby police station and her body was later discovered by a boy who had gone to collect animal feeds from a farm belonging to Ssekandi in Kirumba on June 12 at about 11:30am.
Police deployed a K99 sniffer dog which led them to a shrine of one the residents and a witch doctor in the area.
The Wanala region police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala said the victim was cut into parts and some of her body parts including the heart and lungs were taken away and are still missing.
“The abdomen was cut off from the legs and taken away. However, the two legs were abandoned at the crime scene and some of the internal organs like the heart, lungs among others were found missing in the girl’s body,” Kawala said.
The abandoned body parts were recovered and taken to Kiboga hospital for a postmortem. A knicker, and black skirt suspected to be for the deceased have also been recovered as exhibit,” Police reported.
Kawala identified the suspect as Madinah Nakyeyune, who is currently detained at Kiboga police station meanwhile as the search for the missing body parts and inquiries into the matter are underway.
“Sear h efforts are on for the missing body parts. Our security teams are working hard to ensure more perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book,” she said.
Cases of ritual murders are on rise in Kiboga district. For instance, two months ago, two children; Esther Namasuba, 5, and Sylvia Nantongo, 2, all members of the same family went missing after they left their parents cultivating and went home for lunch. Days later, their mutated bodies were found on a bricklaying site.
Police has warned parents to ensure protection and safety of their children whenever they are at home and away from home.
