Leonard Kamugisha Akida is a Ugandan Multimedia Journalist, media trainer, and Founder of Parrots Media [Parrots UG and ParrotsUgTV]- a fast growing digital news platform in Uganda. His journalistic work covers health, politics, agribusiness and human interest stories. Kamugisha has mentored young journalists and other professionals through internship fellowships, newsroom trainings and digital content creation, branding and marketing. He also lectures at Team University Uganda - Department of Journalism and Media Studies.
He is also a respected opinion writer, known for his thought-provoking pieces such as "Broken Press, Broken Voices: Journalists Must Unite or Perish" and "When the Poor Rise."
Beyond journalism, Kamugisha is a poet and Advocate for mental health, sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR), and Drowning Prevention, using social media and Parrots UG website to drive social change Guided by his belief that "Every smartphone is a tool for wealth creation," he continues to inspire youth to embrace digital creativity, storytelling and innovation.
