The Buganda Road Court has on Wednesday sent to remand motor mouthed Blogger Ibrahim Tusubira alias Isma Olaxess after he was found guilty on two counts of inciting violence and promoting secterianism.
During the court session, the prosecution told court that on November 17,while at his home in Kyanja Wakiso District, Isma incited the general public to commit terrorism, after he recorded a video calling against the alleged persecution of muslims by security forces. This was after a number of suspects arrested in connection to the recent bomb attacks in Kampala were profiled as muslims.
In a video that went viral on the internet, the blogger is seen speaking in a native language- Luganda that he would one day ask the sucide bombers to attack the biggest Kampala market St. Balikuddembe popularly known as Owino market but as attempted last week the parliament of Uganda.
“Olunaku lumu ngyakugamba Walahi ng’omusilamu nsabe omuntu wa boomu mugambe toyingila ku parliament, Nedda! Yingira mu Owino olyoke ogite,” Isma said in a video.
On Saturday last week, the police Criminal Investigation Department at Kibuli summoned this blogger for interrogation and was later arrested on similar utterances.
The utterance according to the prosecution is likely to degrade, revile, expose to hatred or contempt to promotr in any other way feelings of ill will or hostility among against any group of persons on account of religion.
Court further charged him with two counts of inciting of violence contrary to section 21 (1) of Penal Code Act cap 120 and promoting secterianism contrary to section 41 (1) (a) (c) and (d) of penal code Act cap 120 and remanded him to Kitalya Government Prison.
