Buyanja My Roots has donated relief items worth Uganda shillings Six million to students of Kyamakanda Senior Secondary School in Rukungiri district who lost all their belongings in a fire that destroyed Moon dormitory on 17th February 2023.

The 54 affected students received items from ‘Buyanja My Roots” and they include 54 suit cases, 25 cartons of counter books, and in addition, they contributed building materials towards the reconstruction of a new dormitory among which include four trips of Sand, 3,000 bricks, and other construction materials.

The fire that destroyed the dormitory is believed to have been set by unknown arsonist when the students were in night prep.

Speaking during the handover ceremony that was held at school premises Monday morning, Mr. Benjamin Kwikiriza aka Brother. Ben the chairperson “Buyanja My Roots” Rukungiri chapter who led the team said that they intervened to help parents and students who are currently in an economic crisis and could not easily replace the lost items during this hard time.

Benjamin called upon students to be disciplined and avoid strikes if they are to be successful in their academics.

Kwikiriza assured students that if well used, the donated items will help them to catch up academically and will perform well in exams.
