“There is another group of comrades who kick-started a fundraising campaign for a bulletproof vehicle. These comrades informed me of their plan, but I thought it was an uphill task, given how expensive it is. A few weeks ago, these comrades surprised me when they informed me that they had succeeded in raising enough money for the vehicle, and here it is. I can’t thank you enough,” joyous Bobi Wine posted.
The National Unity Platform team is one of those camps that repeatedly face the wrath of security forces especially police during the 2021 presidential campaigns. Many lost their lives while others survived with serious injuries.
It’s at this point that NUP supporters decided to start a fundraising campaign to buy their presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine an armored vehicle as they claimed that their ‘President’s’ life is in danger especially when he’s on a campaign trail and needs protection by gifting him an armored vehicle.
ParrotsUg News has learnt that the group succeeded in raising money for the vehicle and went ahead to ship it in and we can confirm that Bobi Wine now owns an armored vehicle.
From the time he was attacked with live bullets on the campaign trail in Masaka November last year, and particularly when a projectile hit Dan Magic smashing his face, many Ugandans out of concern bought him bullet proof vests and ballistic helmets, which he put on throughout the campaign period, and gave others to comrades.
“Some Ugandans took it upon themselves to raise funds that supported our polling agents and supervisors countrywide. Many Ugandans out of concern sent me bullet-proof vests and ballistic helmets, which I put on throughout the campaign period, and gave others to comrades. Indeed, if I did not have one on in Masaka, the story would be different. Thank you.” Kyagulanyi said while unveiling his armored car donated by NUP/People Power supporters.
While unveiling the donated vehicle, Kyagulanyi revealed that a group of supporters told him of their ideal plans to purchase a bullet proof car at the beginning of the campaigns but he could not believe since its expensive. But, he was astonished after same group informed him that the car was already purchased and given to him.
I can’t thank you enough,”Kyagulanyi posted on his social media pages on Sunday morning.
Hon Kyagulanyi says that “contrary to what Gen. Museveni and his spin-masters love to say, this struggle to-date continues to be supported by Ugandans here and abroad. We are very, very grateful. Without your effort and support, we would never have been able to come this far.”
Means how the car was shipped into the country remains unclear since all armored vehicles need clearance from government before being allowed into the country.
its a good piece. Big ups, parrots ug
