‘’We have a very safe country that is politically stable. I want to assure everyone that Uganda is going to remain safe and secure, so there shouldn’t be any worries in the country or among the citizens about the upcoming elections. And we are ready to protect lives and properties,’’ she said.

Nakalema made the remarks during the second day of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, Kampala on Thursday.

Additionally, Nakalema said that the unit is leveraging on technology, particularly the electronic investors protection portal to promote, protect and guidelines investors and tourists, as well as providing them with authentic information about investing in tourism.

‘’We are doing our best to ensure that we create a thriving investment climate in Uganda, and that we have already succeeded,’’ she said.

The POATE 2025 started on Wednesday 21st May, 2025 and will close on Saturday 24th May, 2025. The expo brings together local and international hosted buyers to explore Uganda’s diverse tourism offerings including wildlife, scenic landscapes, cultural tourism, adventure activities, eco and sustainable tourism among others.

Rt. Hon. Robin Nabbanja Musafiri, Prime Minister of Uganda touring around exhibition stalls at POATE 2025 on Wednesday.

Officiating at the launch of the expo on Wednesday, the Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja said that POATE has grown into more than a Ugandan tourism event to become one of the most influential regional expos. She disclosed government commitment to transforming tourism industry into a cornerstone for socio-economic development.

“The government of Uganda through its vision 2040 and the Tenfold Growth Strategy, has firmly committed itself to transforming tourism into a cornerstone for socio-economic development. This commitment is evident in the continued investment in tourism infrastructure, product diversification, and capacity building, all designed to create an enabling environment for private sector growth, community participation, and international collaboration. Uganda’s approach to sustainable destination development is also aligned with the principles of green growth, digital adoption and cultural preservation,” Nabbanja stated.

Over 3,000 delegates from more than 50 countries are participating in this year’s POATE exhibition reflecting a significant demonstration of value of partnership and the increasing global interest in Uganda and the East African region. Tourism minister, Tom Butime, said the exhibition has grown into a regional brand, affirming Uganda’s position as a leading tourism destination in Africa.
