PADER DISTRICT;
Congregants of Christ the King Church, Pader felt miserable after being addressed as mourners. Congregants who turned up for the celebration of the Christ the King Day on 21st November, 2021 were angered by Pader district chairperson after he addressed them as mourners instead of congregants.
This address came in a short while after the districtchairperson was invited by the secretary for education, David Lam Komakech, to come and address the congregants who turned up for the celebration. Fearless Obwoya Oyat, Pader district chairperson made the remarks shortly by saying that he welcomes and thanks all the mourners instead of the celebrators of the day. However, he defended his remarks by saying that they are used to attending funerals daily hence making him forget. His remarks were not received by the some of the congregants with open arms as others felt miserable.
David Opiro, a resident of Lacekocot, Atanga town council said that he didn’t receive the remarks joyfully as the day was moving on. He continued and said that the district needs to be more focused whenever addressing any gatherings apart from the Christ the king congregations. Christ the King Day was held on Sunday, 21st of November 2021 at Atanga parish mission Catholic Church in Ajan sub-county, Pader district.
