Police in Kanungu are having in custody a 46-year-old Dad on allegations of murder by strangling his biological son over Shs 500.
Onaclet Agaba, a resident of Kazirankye village, Northern Ward Kanungu town council reportedly strangled his son Ivan Nuwagaba, 10, a pupil at Karuhinda Primary School in Kanungu on Sunday 2nd July, 2023, at around 1PM.
It is alleged that on June 28th, at around 10am the suspect sent the deceased to buy him cigarettes worth Shs1,000 but the son instead bought cigarettes for only for Shs 500 and never returned the balance. This angered the father who threatened to harm him anytime.
As misfortunes would have it, the victim out of fear ran away from home until on Sunday (July 2) when his father caught him in a neighbouring village in Kanyanguende and mercilessly strangled him to death using a rope and later hanged the deceased body on a mangle tree with the deceased legs touching the ground.
The Kanyanguende local council One Chairperson Hellen Ayebare informed the police about the incident which swung into action and arrested the suspect.
Local authorities condemned acts of domestic violence in homes which are on rise in Kanungu many times resulting into loss of lives.
