Messengers of bad news yesterday Saturday April 25th,2020 broke the blacksmith news to the diocese about the death of Fr Odomaro Mutungirehi who passed on at St. Francis Nsambya hospital in Kampala.

Mbarara Archdiocese confirmed the news of Fr Odomaro’s death saying he has been hospitalized.

“Very sad to announce the death of Rev Fr Odomaro Mutungirehi. He passed on yesterday towards midnight at Nsambya hospital Kampala where he was admitted during the Holy week…” Excerpts of the statement read.

Born on 17th October,1963, Fr Odomaro has died at 57yrs. He was ordained into Priesthood on 17th July,1993. His former students at St Peter’s Mwamba describes him as a cheer leader, loving and priest who loved above all, Education where he’s invested all his time

The deceased has been working as the Deputy Head Teacher at Bishop Ogez High School, a Catholic founded school named after the First Bishop of Mbarara Diocese JM Ogez. He also worked as the Head Teacher St Peter’s Mwamba SSS.

“His death occurs at a time when we received great news of the appointment of His Grace Archbishop Elect Lambert Bainomugisha,” Archdiocese mourns in retaliation.

Yesterday remains a historical day in the Archdiocese as the good news of the appointment of His Grace Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha still re echoes the ears of the diocese.

Luigi Bianco, the Popal Nuncio to Uganda openly announced the new appointment to the Archdiocese and also clarified that the Pope also accepted the resignation of the current Archbishop His Grace Paul Kamuza Bakyenga up on clocking the recommended canonical age of 75yrs.

On the death of Fr Mutungirehi, the diocese is consoled that the Lord is speaking rather loud, joy and sadness amidst COVID-19 lockdown thus the twin incidents in the archdiocese.

The deceased’s pastoral profile, burial arrangements had not been established by press time. We continue updating you as the story develops.
