The Electoral Commission of Uganda has released a program for the conduct of local government council’s By-elections in electoral areas where vacancies exist.
The commission revealed that the national voters register will be updated between 22nd & 26th October 2021 and between 29th & 30th October the commission will recruit officials to conduct the display of the voter’s Register.
From 8th – 17th November 2021 the Voter’s Register will be displayed at Polling Stations in the affected electoral areas and Issuance of Voter Location Slips (VLS) by Parish Supervisors.
Candidates will be nominated at respective district headquarters from 29th to 30th November 2021.
The nominated candidates will then conduct Campaigns from 2nd – 14 th December 2021 as polling and Tallying of results for special interest groups (SIGs) will be conducted on 15th December 2021.
Finally on 16th December 2021, elections and Tallying of results for District
Chairperson (Kayunga) & other Local Government Councils will be conducted on.
The commission calls upon all stakeholders in the affected electoral areas to participate
in the electoral process in accordance with the guidelines for the by-elections.
