KIKUUBE
Three children have been confirmed dead and one other in critical conditions after they were allegedly poisoned by their father in Kikuube district.
It is alleged that the suspect, Wilson Kiiza, 45, a resident of Ngoma village, Kinogozi parish, Kikuube district poisoned his four children on Saturday August 2. The motive of this act is according to police still unclear.
Julius Allan Hakiza, the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson has identified the victims as Solomon Ashaba (P.5), Wilson Asinguza (P.1) and the third one whose identity remains unknown. The fourth child, Happy Atugonza is receiving treatment at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital. All the children are pupils at Hoima Public School.
Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect separated with the children’s mother, but she has been sending the children to visit their father.
Police says that the suspect also took the poison after poisoning his children, and he is also receiving treatment.
“The suspect had separated with his wife about six months ago,” said Hakiza.
Hakiza condemned the incident noting that investigations are underway.
