KAMPALA
A mysterious fire has gutted the home of the late Dr. Paul Kawanga Ssemwogerere, former president of the Democratic Party, located in Lule Zone, Kabusu, Rubaga Division.
The fire broke out Friday afternoon and spread widely across the building.
“We heard a loud crack, then saw smoke pouring out of the roof,”Margaret Namaganda, an eyewitness.
Residents tried to extinguish the fire to stop it from spreading to other parts of the house and causing more damages, however, the attempt wasn’t successful because the fire was too strong.
Police Fire Brigade was notified and rushed to the scene to contain the fire.
By press time, no injuries were reported, but a lot of property damage was recorded. The cause of fire according to police remains unknown.
Dr. Ssemogerere, died in 2022 at age 90, and had served as the Democratic Party for over 10 years.
