Kampala International University Alumni community is mourning the sudden death of their member Joseph Kavuma who passed on Wednesday May 26.
“I’m saddened by the untimely death of my Brother Kavuma Joseph. He was our Legion of Mary President at Kampala International University Kansanga: Mary Cause of Our Joy Preasidium between 2016 And 2017.” Parrots UG CEO Leonard Kamugisha Akida the deceased alumnus announced in a social media post.
“I can’t believe that you are no more Bro. It shouldn’t surely have been neither today nor next years.
Dear Lord. The good people should not go soon. Kavuma I will always miss you!”
Kavuma went to Bukinda Seminary between 2008 and 2013. He is a former Engineering student at KIU and graduated in Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering in 2018.
During his time at the university, he served as the president of the legion of Mary (Legio Mariae) a Catholic church movement established by Frankdurf to emulate the deeds of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was also an active member in the university’s chaplet – Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Parrots UG CEO described the deaceased as a good shepherd who would do mobilisation for the catholic community without hesitation.
“In my freshman’s year, Kavuma introduced me both to the university Legionary Preasidium and the Catholic chaplet: Immaculate Heart of Mary – KIU chapel.”
“I remember one time he together with other chapel leaders and Chaplain Fr. Benedict Birungi aka Fr. Young, organized for a visit to Radio Maria Mutungo Bbina. He (the deceased) included my name on the list of the people who were going to lead live mass. Being a journalism student, it was a good luck for it was going to be my first time On Air. I didn’t have enough money to facilitate my transport but he made sure that I joined others on the journey. May he rest eternally.” Akida eulogized.
Breaking into tears, Akida said Kavuma death is a big blow in his spiritual life and journalism career.
By the time of this publication, no details of the cause of Kavuma’s death had been known. But, a close source told this reporter that the cause of his death and funeral arrangements will be communicated soon.
