Four students of Kampala International University (KIU), Ishaka Campus are nursing injuries after they were involved in a road accident in Queen Elizabeth National Park on Saturday evening.
The accident occurred when a maroon Toyota Premio, registration number UBM 473N, Tourist Van in which the students were traveling overturned several times in Katwe Kabatoro Division, along Ishaka -Kasese Highway.
Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumusiime confirmed the incident, identifying the driver as Emodu Bernard, who was transporting four passengers from Mweya Safari Lodge.
The injured were named as Manyardi Julius, Akello Angelina, Oyesiga Marvin, and Acidri Eric. All were rushed to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese Municipality for treatment.
Police attributed the cause of the crash to over speeding, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
SP Tumushime cautioned motorists against reckless driving, urging them to observe road safety measures to prevent further accidents.
