A speeding bus has on Wednesday (June 21) knocked dead two school going children at Kikoma Ssembabule district on Ssembabule Masaka-Kampala highway.
Eye witnesses say the driver of the bus motor vehicle registration number UAU 941S belonging to Gateway bus company which was running at a bottleneck speed lost control of the vehicle making him to knock dead pupils who were trying to cross the road
The deceased are Comfort Nakalanzi and Majorine Nabatanzi, both daughters of Paul Wakikoma, a resident of the area. They were reported returning to home when the accident happened.
The bus was heading to Kampala from Ssembabule.
Steven Kanya Kibudiya, the Kikoma sub-county speaker condemned the incident saying that ever since traffic was diverted to his Ssembabule after the downside of River Katonga, Ssembabule has recorded an overwhelming number of accidents due to overspeeding.
Police was notified of the incident and they visited the scene, arrested bus driver and impounded the vehicle to Ssembabule police station pending to be produced to court.
