MITOOMA
City pastor and youthful leader, Moses Gumisiriza is becoming an icon for Mitooma District Local Government with steadfastness.

Gumisiriza has always been alive to the impact of Mitooma’s changing political architecture and the nation’s modern politics. And his ability to pull particular voting groups to derive political advantage are hitherto unmatched.

At 43, he has emerged as the voice of million youth who live on the margins of Uganda’s economy and politics and through his pastoral works at Grace Assembly Church Kampala and entrepreneurship services targeting majority youths from the district and as far as cross country, that in Gumisiriza the youths are finding a voice is a fact.

A vibrant member of the MK Movement, a youth led political wing by the first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba that is making the olden politicians speak in tongues, Gumisiriza is truly shaking up Mitooma politics beyond dispute. This is after “campaign” flyers and posters containing political messages started circulating on the internet and in most of the public appearances, he has declared bid to contest for the district’s topmost political seat (Chairman LC5) in the 2026 election.

Many youths are rallying around him. There is no doubt that he has a bright future in Mitooma’s politics. A lot of variables are working in his favour. He is charismatic. His route to politics is smoothed by the fact that he is a famous religious leader and a businessman that has pulled a large number of the youth to the money economy.

At most, on his fourth floor, three quarters of the population is in his age bracket. Many are educated but unemployed, unemployable and frustrated likely to put octane pressure on the incumbent, Benon Karyeija whose leadership has failed to address the challenges affecting youth today.

Besides, the values of the MK Movement seek to address modern-day youth socio-economic and political affairs which paves the way to the movement scribes to shake local government and nation’s politics to the core. And Gumisiriza is the scribe in question.

His political slogans, “Tiwatuma, Wayehikira” literally translated as a “Good Messenger” and “Eiraka Rya Buri Muntu” (People’s Voice) make him a formidable young challenger to the old horses and a standby generator to the majority youth voters.
