“Health is wealth”: Dangers caused by computerized devices and how to overcome them.

These devices include; smartphones, tablet, PDAs, laptops, desktops and so on.

Today, we are living in the era where technology is inevitable and even critical to our daily lives. This technology is important almost in all spheres of life- let it be business, education, socialization mention it.

In traditional era people used to believe that “the books you read will book you” thus, they used to read large volumes of books so as to attain knowledge unlike today where people rely on computerized gadgets to gain knowledge (they do surf).

The slogan has changed from “I think, therefore I am” to “I digitize, therefore I am”.

With the current pandemic covid 19, every person, young and old has been introduced to computerized devices in one way or the other.
Though they are of great importance to us, they also cause a lot of harm to our health if carelessly handled.

Dangers and how to avoid them.

Eye strain.
This is mainly caused by too much light from the device/high blightness.
Spending a lot of time seeing on the screen of computerized devices.

solution
Use enough light but not excessive (play around with the blightness levels of your phone or comuter.)
Use special computer glasses
Take minibreaks so as to relax the eyes.

Cancer and Reproductive effects.
Radiatins from radio frequency and electromagnetic frequency are capable of causing cancer and reproductive effects.

solution
Keep the devices away from the body and bed
Carry the phones in the bag but not in the hands or in the pocket where it can get into contact with your body.
Don’t put the devices on the laps, keep them at the eye level instead.
Don’t make a call for a long time, use text rather than calling.

Back pain and headach
Overuse of such devices can lead to the above mentioned pain.
Bad sitting posture while on the computer can lead to back pain.

solution
Ensure digital detox ie taking hours when free from phone, computer and other devices.
Always ensure good sitting posture while using the computer.
Do stretching exercise to relax the body.

Lack of sleep and next day fatigue.
Using the devices at night may lead to lack of sleep due to the light from their screen thus, next day fatigue.

solution
Stop using the device atleast an hour before bedtime

Social isolation.
Gone are the days where people used to do visitations and face to face conversations. This was so important because it would depict the spirit of togetherness and through face to face conversations, one can easily tell that the person is telling the truth unlike over the phone or media conversation.

solution
Social isolation can be avoided by practicing digital sabbath.

Stress
Stress is mainly due to multitasking ie performing different tasks at the same time using computerized devices.

Addition
It is said that too much of everything is always bad. Also the over use of these devices may lead to addiction which is dangarous to a persons way of living.
Most families are breaking up as wives are so much addicted to their phones that they have replaced them with their husbands.

Solution
Practice self contol.
Ensure digital sabbath ie taking some time off the device; it may be a week or days.
