University and Tertiary Institutions students who have not yet applied or submitted to the Higher Education Students Financing Board applications for study loans can continue to do so despite hitting the first deadline, HESFB has said.
Michael Wanyama, the HESFB Executive Director has announced that the board has extended the deadline for all interested studentd applying for students’ loans, from November 30, 2021 to January 15, 2022.
HESFB had advertised and commenced receiving applications for study loans under Students’ Loan Scheme on October 11, 2021.
On Tuesday, Wanyama told reports at the Uganda Media Centre that while the Board had set the application deadline for midnight 30th November, 2021, it has been established that some Higher Education Institutions such as Lira University have just concluded their admissions process.
He further explained that others institutions such as Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Gulu University, Soroti University and other Tertiary Institutions under the Joint Admissions Board are yet to complete or even start the admission process.
“The Board notes that some Higher Education Institutions already finalized the admission process, and in some Institutions, students already commenced their first semester studies with a number of them hoping to be supported under the Students’ Loan Scheme. Also, the final year students applying under the continuing students’ loan are either due or have commenced their studies,” Wanyama said.
