The FDC Deputy Spokesperson John Kikonyogo has no good words to the murderers.
Speaking to journalists at Najjanankumbi on Monday, Kikonyogo bitterly addressed the issues of the murder of their supporter Batungura Bewatte who was killed during the Makerere guild presidential campaigns on Thursday last week.
He calls for death penalty to anyone found guilty of murder although the law has hirtheto been rejected by many people.
“According to our laws, all murderers should be hanged. Some people do not believe in death penalty but I believe in it. If you kill my brother there’s no reason why you should live also.” he retaliated.
FDC has tasked government to expedite investigations and bring the murderers of Betungura to court despite the political group inwhich one belongs.
“It doesn’t matter who this person is whether a student or not, be it a member of any political party, FDC inclusive, the murderer must face the charges.”
FDC intends to employ private investigators into the matter meanwhile as police also does its own investigations to ensure the bottom of this issue is reached.
Kikonyogo however blames government and the Electoral Commission headed by Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama for being responsible for the incident because they have made politics a bloodshed game by promoting the politics of life and death yet the young people are in institutions are inspired by the national politics.
“We have poisoned our political environment, the earlier we intoxicate it, the better for our country” says Kikonyogo.
