The Isingiro District LC5 Chairman Aaron Turahi has stopped with immediate effect the recruitment process of candidates for the recently advertised jobs under the Isingingiro District Local Gov’t  District Service Commission (DSC) over irregularities.

“I have with immediate effect halted the recruitment process of public service following reports of alleged extortions and bribery of the DSC,” Chairman Aaron said

The stoppage according to the chairman follow complaints from the general public including apolicants who accuse the committee of practicing open bribery in the recruitment exercise.

It should be recalled that the Isingiro DLG recently advertised for over 18 vacancies including Agricultural officer, senior entomologist, commercial officer, health inspector, Laboratory Technicians, enrolled nurse, enrolled midwife among others under the DSC.

Parrots UG has established that more than 800 nurses who applied for the vacancy only 55 have been shortlisted for interviews. The public and applicants now argue that the criteria used in shortlisting of suitable candidates for all advertised vacancies was unfair prompting the Chairman LCV Aaron Turahi to temporarily suspend the exercise.

An applicant who preferred anonymity told Parrots UG that his documents were trashed because he did not posses the Annual Practicing License for the job of Laboratory Technician yet it is no longer a requirement for the recruitment of Allied Health Workers in the public service as it was replaced with the Extract by the ministry of health.

“For my case, the DSC say I didn’t have an annual practicing lisence which was substituted by an extract by MOH through the Allied health council and of which most of us had them but they missintepreted letter from the council that was written to them explaining the changes”, source told Parrots UG

It should be recalled that the ministry of health through the allied health councicouncil in January 2022 started issuing Extract from the register replacing it with the Annual Practicing License as proof that all Allied Health Professionals are up-to-date and eligible  to serve the publi.

In a notice by Mipiima Patrick Kibirango, the registrar Allied Health Professionals Council, only Allied Health Workers in the private sector are allowed to use the Annual Practicing License as provided in section 31 of the Allied Health Professionals Council Act.

The source further accuses the Isingiro DSC headed by Kabikire Nathan of violating provisions of the Act by trashing his application. He threatened to sue the commission to the courts of law.

In addition, the District Boss had urged all affected applicants to file petitions to his office by Monday (today) expressing their grievances and pledged to attend to them.

Turahi has further threatened to arrest and charge any member of the commission found guilty of the alleged bribery.

Attempts to speak to speak to Kabikire were futile as he was unavailable to attend to our calls by press time
