A team of three students offering Computer Science at IUIU have designed a system named Patient Record Tracking a system that is to stop the bouncing back of patients at hospitals due to lack of documents about their previous treatments and the different allergies patients may have on drugs.

The team comprises of a female Namuganza Zaituna and two males Ndibalema Sadik and Ssentume Hamza

According to Ndibalema Sadik, bouncing off patients especially pregnant mothers due to lack of previous medical records has led to martenal death and child death since doctors don’t have enough information about the patient .

He also added that it has led to wrong diagnosis and treatment that subsequently results in death.

” This also leads to wrong diagnosis and treatment that subsequently results in death .” Said Ndibalema Sadik

The Patient Record Tracking System is a system whose infrastructure is on the internet platform and provides e- services and promotes the ability of computer system or soft ware to exchange and make use of the information by enabling not only inter – communication among authorized Heath care professionals but also Sharing the Heath Care records virtually on authoritative , multi dimensional view on the patient health state .

As they demonstrated and defended this they provided and showed how the system work with an already existing trial which is implemented in the digital health management system project for Bakamai , a Ugandan medical  Centre where Integration of health care application is required.

” The project’s final target is the regional health digital system that interacts with the healthcare system for better support . The digital – oriented paradigm emerges as a promising approach to map the automatic healthcare system and their users in virtual entities and add values such as flexibility , adaptability and reusability over a traditional object or service oriented approach .” Said Sadik

The team is supervised by Eng Kassanga Usama the faculty ordinator of computer science and IT department

As of the past years , majority of the patients have lacked documents from their previous treatments showing diagnosed history and the treatment they had. This makes it hard for the health worker to know the patient they are dealing with . But with this new Patient Record Tracking System all documents will be safely kept.
