The children of fallen Supreme court judge, Stella Arach Amoko have outrightly rejected a proposal by their father, Ambassador James Amoko to have her buried at Arua Catholic Cathedral Cemetery.
The proposal to bury Arach at a neutral place was reached on Friday during a mediation between Ambassador James Idule Amoko, the husband, and Arach’s family members.
In a meeting chaired by lawyer Francis Gimara, former president of Uganda Law Society, advocate and Commissioner of oaths, it was resolved that a neutral place, Arua Catholic Cathedral Cemetery as proposed by the family of the husband be adopted by the families as a burial site.
The Nebbi family (deceased children) was represented by Marshal Alenyo while the Adjumani family (Amb. Amoko family) was represented by Hon Raphael Baku.
Atenyi was asked to communicate the position of the medications to the Nebbi family yesterday, however, reports indicate that the children have insisted that their mother be buried at Jukia Hill as she had willed before her death.
This is according to a latest letter by the deceased children Christian Onyok, the biological sister, Godfrey Picho, the brother to the deceased, Annette Yosa, and Jackie Amony both biological daughters, and Emmanuel Komakech, the biological son.
“We appreciate your acknowledgment that her burial mustn’t be conducted in Adjumani as you had earlier mentioned. We maintain that she should be buried at Jukia Hill Ward in Nebbi district next to her late father Wod Rwot his worship Micheal Picho and her aunt Nya’ Rwot Julia Angeyo as she desired, in accordance with her deathbed wishes and Ragem customs,” reads part of the letter dated June 24.
They proposed that a state burial ceremony which includes the requiem mass, the speeches by all state officials, dignitaries, and in-laws, and laying of the wreaths and viewing of the body be held in Arua as proposed by their father and thereafter the burial in Nebbi.
The body of the deceased is still being kept at A –plus funeral home until the actual date of burial is communicated.
