Residents of Kabaare VII Local Council one in Isingiro District woke up on November 23rd to thick smoke billowing from the chairperson’s office.
According to Byaruhanga Gordon Salongo, the office’s general secretary, neighbors raised the alarm at around 4:00 a.m, reporting that the building appeared to be on fire. He rushed to the scene and found smoke escaping through the ventilators and door.
Police from Kaberebe and Katete stations responded swiftly, breaking into the office to begin investigations. A sniffer dog was deployed but failed to trace the perpetrators to any residence.
The fire destroyed several vital items, including the official office stamp, a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, all office files, and copies of land and property agreements kept in custody.
District Police Commander (DPC) Isingiro, SSP [name withheld], confirmed the incident in a telephone interview, noting that the investigative team is compiling its findings. He added that the Police Public Relations Officer will issue an official statement once the report is complete.

This attack comes just three days after a security meeting was convened in the same area to address rising concerns over increased insecurity.
