KAMPALA
The Kampala Capital City Authority Deputy Executive Director, Eng. David Luyimbazi has said that the authority is in all efforts to redeem city roads infrastructure which he says is in a scrambling state.
“I will not deny that the infrastructure is not scrambling, yes it is but this is something we have inherited as new management in KCCA. Right now our major objective and intention is to redeem the old infrastructure,” Luyimbazi said.
According to Luyimbazi, the authority inherited poor roads with over 40yrs life than the recommended 10 to 20yrs structure plans and therefore are not to blame on the poor state of roads in the country’s capital city.
He says management is on plans to upgrade the old infrastructure to make them passable for the dense traffic which is over and above the recommended 400 vehicles expected to use paved roads daily.
Kampala city has 2100 Km of roads, out of which 600km are tarmac and 1,500 are marram roads.
