Recently, when the former prime minister of Uganda John Patrick Amama Mbabazi was celebrating 50 years in marriage with his wife Jacqueline Mbabazi, the Honorary Consul Of Vietnam to Uganda King Caeser Mulenga promised to pay a quarter of a billion in Ugandan shillings towards the construction of All Saints Cathedral Nakasero Kampala which he fulfilled on Tuesday.

The money was paid in cash by King Caeser Mulenga himself in the presence of John Patrick Amama Mbabazi, Dr. Livingston Ruhakana Rugunda, former chancellor of Makerere University Professor Mondo Kagonyera, state minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives David Bahati, the arch bishop of the church of Uganda Hid Grace the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu who was represented by the assistant Bishop of the Kampala diocese Dr. Rev. Hannington Mutebi, Vivian Igunduura chairperson of building committee among others.

Mulenga also confirmed the fulfillment of the pledge on Wednesday, on his official X handle formally known as Tweeter. According to Mulenga, the money donated is meant to the purchase of all windows of the cathedral in a bide to complete it’s construction in time without any further delays.

The fundraising campaign was initiated by the Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu as a measure to raise funds to get the completion of the cathedral in time.

According to the building committee of the cathedral, Thomas Tayebwe, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, pledged UGX 53 million, Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, pledged UGX 10 million, Former premier of Uganda Dr. Livingston Ruhakana Rugunda also pledged UGX 2 Million among others.

Speaking to the media shortly after the fulfillment of his promise Mulenga said all the money belongs to God who is the giver of each and everything and that is why he decided to give back to Him/God, however he applauded Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu for the tremendous work always done towards the completion of the Cathedral including others mobilizers.

According to Vivian Igunduura, initially over UGX 8 billion was required to complete the construction of interior part of the cathedral, whereby they at least managed to get more money remaining with the balance of UGX 1.8b among which King Caeser Mulenga on Tuesday donated a half of a billion.
