Kithulha Francis Mugisa, an aspiring legislator for Kasese Municipality, has pledged to sponsor 43 local runners for the 4th edition of the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon, set to take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Kasese, attracting athletes from over 30 countries.
He made the announcement this morning during a visit to a training session at Nyakasanga playground in Kasese Municipality.

Kithulha emphasized the marathon’s role in boosting economic growth, stating, “I urge the people of Kasese to fully embrace the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon and other sports activities as catalysts for economic development.”
Last year, he supported 21 runners through the Rwenzori Region Athletes Association for the marathon’s 3rd edition and has also sponsored athletes to compete in the Gulu City Marathon and Nairobi City Marathon.
Mumbere Egizile, a sponsored runner, expressed gratitude to Kithulha and other stakeholders for their consistent support but highlighted the challenge of using substandard equipment, such as inadequate running shoes.
Another runner, Eve, urged other leaders to follow Kithulha’s example and provide meaningful support to athletes, beyond merely attending events for publicity.
