MITYANA
The LC3 chairperson of Myanzi Sub-county in Kasanda District, Joseph Mary Nsubuga, died instantly in a road accident on Tuesday afternoon, leaving two female teachers seriously injured.
The crash occurred at about 2:00 pm at Mumsa, along the Mubende–Kampala highway in Mityana Municipality. It involved a black Toyota Noah (registration number UA 010AR) and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number UDP 918K).
According to preliminary police findings, Nsubuga, 55, who was riding the motorcycle, attempted a sudden U-turn in the middle of the highway. The Toyota Noah, which was approaching from the same direction, rammed into the motorcycle, killing him on the spot.
“The rider attempted an abrupt U-turn in the middle of the highway, which gave the driver of the Toyota Noah no time to react. The impact was fatal,” said Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala.
Following the collision, the Toyota Noah veered off the road and overturned, injuring two passengers identified as Rose Nabukalu, 25, and Florence Namigade, 27. Both are teachers at Good Mummy Primary School in Bukuya and residents of Bukuya Town Council.
The two were rushed to Kambo Medical Centre in Naama for emergency treatment.

Police documented the scene before towing both vehicles to Mityana Central Police Station for inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles. Nsubuga’s body was taken to Mityana General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
SP Kawala cautioned motorists and riders to observe traffic regulations and exercise maximum vigilance, especially on highways, to prevent further loss of lives.
