Authorities of Lira University have dispelled reports that President Yoweri Museveni has directed them to take over Barlonyo Technical Institute and turn to its college of Agriculture.
This follows a letter dated 18th November signed by principal private security to the president, Dr Kenneth Omona, that a wash social media requesting Lira University to upgrade Barlonyo agro technical institute to an agricultural college.
The Vice chancellor of Lira University Professor Jasper Ogwal Okeng said although the University is envisaged to expand, there are no plans to take over the institute and they have not yet received any letter from the President’s Office directing on the same.
He disclosed that Oyam and Amolatar Districts have allocated to them undisclosed hectares of land onwhich they plan to develop in future.
Attempt to get comments from Dr Omona about the letter remained futile.
