It was a horrible moment in Lwengo district after police recovered two decomposing dead bodies of a woman and their four-months old toddler into a pit latrine.
The recovery followed alerts from the community members who noted that one of their members had gone missing and her known mobile numbers off after a fight that erupted between her and the husband.
Residents immediately held a search which landed them to the bodies dumped in a pit latrine.
These alerted Masaka fire brigade police which rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies.
They (residents) said Tugume and Katushabe had a longstanding dispute which local leaders and community members tried to address in vain.
According to the residents, suspicions arose after one of their neighbours a one George William Tugume, 47, a Deputy Headteacher of Kaboyo Primary School had a fight with his Rose Katushabe, 24, who went missing for a couple of days and her known numbers were off.
They conduct a thorough search in which her decomposing body was eventually found in a pit latrine at their home in the Industrial zone in Lwengo Town Council.
The Lwengo District Police Commander, Peter Akampurira confirmed to this incident noting that the bodies were retrieved.
Akampurira added that Tugume is being detained at Mbiriizi police station while investigations are still on.
