KUMI
Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi has promised to deliver justice, compensation, and renewed development to the people of Teso, saying the region has been neglected by the current government for far too long.
While addressing supporters in Kumi, Bududa, and Namisindwa Districts, Hon. Mafabi said an FDC government would prioritize compensating families who lost loved ones, cattle, and property during the insurgency that ravaged Teso decades ago.
“Our people in Teso suffered for too long while those responsible looked away,” Mafabi said, drawing loud applause from the crowd. “Under an FDC government, those injustices will finally be addressed.”

The opposition candidate sharply criticized what he called “institutionalized corruption” and poor planning under the current regime, blaming it for national tragedies such as the Kampala–Gulu highway accident that claimed more than 60 lives.
“For every kilometer of road built, money for nineteen kilometers is stolen. That must stop,” Mafabi charged.
He outlined the FDC’s development blueprint for Eastern Uganda, which includes reviving the railway network, improving transportation for agricultural produce, and establishing a starch processing factory in Teso to create jobs and boost local incomes.
“The people of Teso have been forgotten for too long. FDC is here to change that — to fix the economy and put money in every Ugandan’s pocket,” he said.
Mafabi’s tour of Teso forms part of his broader national campaign as one of the eight candidates vying for the presidency in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
As his convoy moved through trading centers, supporters waved FDC flags and chanted his campaign slogan: “FDC with the People of Teso.”
