KATAKWI
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate, Hon. Nandala Mafabi has said his administration will prioritize protection of citizens’ lives and property.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Toroma Town Council, Katakwi District, Mafabi accused Museveni’s regime of failing to protect Ugandans, citing cattle raids in Teso, Acholi, and Lango regions. He said that if elected president in the 2026 polls, he will ensure full compensation for war victims among other unfulfilled compensation pledges.
“During the last campaigns, they told you that if you voted for FDC, the Karamojongs would come for your cows. That was wrong. A president who does not protect his people and their property is a very bad person,” Mafabi told cheering supporters.
He added that a court ruling exists ordering compensation for communities that lost livestock during insurgencies, questioning why government instead offered “only five cows” to each affected household.
Mafabi also accused Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and President Yoweri Museveni of acting out of self-interest.
“Anita Among is speaking whatever she likes because she is protecting what she has gained from being Speaker. And who doesn’t know President Museveni? During Covid-19, he was the only one speaking on TV and radio. Why is he now putting up posters and billboards?”
He claimed that poverty and lack of education have been deliberately used to control Ugandans, pledging equal access to social services in the country.
“If you want to rule people, deny them education and deny them wealth. That’s what these people did. Our people wear his T-shirts because they have no option,” he said.
